Hare Krishna.
By the causeless mercy of Srila Prabhupada, this past week a further three libraries received Srila Prabhupada’s books as part of the ISKCON Pretoria’s Sastra Dana initiative. These three include
- Atteridgeville Library
- Saulsville Library and
- The Travelling Library
The travelling library is a very interesting library service, in that the City has three large buses (of the size of Greyhound buses), which have been transformed into mobile libraries. The entire inside of the bus has been converted into a mini-library with shelves containing various books and even a librarian’s desk .
These “Mobile Libraries” go to the rural outskirts of the City of Tshwane where there is little infrastructure and services available and gives the community members access to lots of books; the main target of these buses is school kids. A lot of the areas where these buses go, have one or two government schools which provide basic education to young children with the barest of facilities and infrastructure. These children would not have access to a library or books for studying. These libraries are a major attraction to these children in these areas and when the schools are in term these libraries go out regularly to (literally) take the library to the readers.
A big thank you to the wonderful devotees who have sponsored these Medium Sets of books; allowing Srila Prabhupada’s mercy to be more accessible.
……that charity, given to spread Krishna Consciousness, is the greatest charity in the world. (BG 11-54 purport)…
